To create a distinct visual signature for BLU points loyalty program consisting of a visual icon/emblem

The BLU Loyalty Program in brief: 
A universal loyalty program that allows customers to earn and redeem points anywhere, anytime...instantly!
It will be one single branded loyalty program used by different merchants and banks to reward their customers. The playing field is open, no constraints, no limitations.

Consumer-facing brand proposition: 
BLU points is an all- encompassing loyalty program allowing consumers the flexibility and FREEDOM to get the most of their purchases with INSTANT rewards and possibilities, whenever wherever. UNIVERSAL by nature, PERSONAL by design, BLU points is built around the consumer and his or her lifestyle.

Key Considerations: 
BLU points visual components consist of a logo and a visual icon / emblem. This project covers only the icon / emblem however, should we be able to create a visual that could serve as both logo and icon, that would probably be the best outcome

The BLU icon / emblem will be used mainly on loyalty and credit cards as stand-alone or co-branded. It is extremely important for the BLU points icon to cut through whilst respecting the proportions of its co- brands. See next page for illustration.
 
What to do and not to do!
Most of the partners and merchants are traditional, somewhat conventional organizations. Let's avoid designs that are too funky or whacky.

Simplicity is the name of the game. Let's be distinctive and fun without being too elaborate.

Keep the use of effects (i.e. 3D, glossy, gradients, shadows, etc.) to a minimum. Nice looking simple logos that could be reproduced easily or printed anywhere are preferred.

The colors to be used should be blue / white or blue / light grey or different tones of blue.
