I’m a ceramic artist, specialising in fine porcelain.
My work is based on the concept of translucency and light. It’s about creating a feeling within the home of peace and serenity.
I work with a fine porcelain clay body, a variety of light sources (natural or man-made) and a range of techniques in order to achieve this.
Every piece is made from scratch – from grinding the raw ingredients of the clay body to the assembly of lamps.
I have one final product in two sizes (a fine white porcelain lamp – globe shaped with a white crackle glaze and a handmade circular wooden base), and another near finished product (an organic form - also fine porcelain lamp). The lights inside the lamps are warm white LEDs that let off a warm glow.
As my work evolves I continue to experiment with texture, depth and form and its interaction with light, taking my inspiration from nature (the texture of a leaf, the symmetry of an ice formation, or the creases in a rock-face).
