<p>This is a newly state-wide consortium of universities in Florida that received funding from the government to develop evidence on the safety and effectiveness of the medical use of marijuana. Recreational use of marijuana in Florida is still illegal, but doctors are now permitted to use it in the treatment of patients who have certain conditions such as pain, spasms, post-traumatic stress disorder and multiple sclerosis. While there is a lot of excitement about this (there are now more than 250,000 users in Florida) it is really unclear whether medical marijuana is effective and even more importantly whether it is safe - especially when used by patients who are ill and are taking a variety of other medications. In this logo, we would like to show the science behind our mission but also our dedication to improving clinical care for these patients.</p>
